Why did you choose WVU?

I'm one in a long line of Mountaineers. My family has all, in one way or another, called WVU home. I knew I wanted to find my own place in the Mountaineer family. When looking into schools I found that WVU was unparalleled in the opportunities it presented. From the honors college to study abroad to research at an R1 institution, there were resources for me to excel. I knew that the WVU family would welcome and assist me through my years here like no other university would.

What is your favorite Mountaineer memory?

I have many favorite Mountaineer memories, but one is extra special to me. My favorite Mountaineer memory would be watching the fireworks on the 4th of July from the 3rd floor of Woodburn Hall when I was younger. My siblings and I all gathered together at the edge of the window to watch the explosions of colors, something I will never forget. Now, as a student, every time I'm up on that 3rd floor I have the memory of the fireworks and the good feeling in my heart that WVU has brought to me.

Why did you want to become a PSA?

I've always had a passion for both public speaking and for bettering West Virginia. I knew being a PSA would give me the opportunity to do both. This program allows me to be a voice for the State and the University and share our message to all types of people. I wanted to become a better speaker and be an advocate for West Virginia University.

What did you learn from the PSA experience?

The PSA experience shaped me as a leader, volunteer, and person. It made my public speaking skills stronger, taught me how best to listen, and ensured I was a positive member of my community. The workshops and seminars covered topics otherwise not taught in my classes, and the lessons I learned were invaluable. Being a PSA was a great opportunity and I'm so glad I participated
