I was captivated by the welcoming nature everyone at this university displayed. I felt that WVU had an unparalleled inclusive environment in which I had unsurmountable support from my peers and faculty to pursue my passions at my discretion. The student-led organizations, academics, and social presence made me excited to explore opportunities inside and outside the classroom while meeting a plethora of new individuals along the way.
What is your favorite Mountaineer memory?
My favorite Mountaineer memory is attending Monday Night Lights with my three roommates and experiencing a glimpse of WVU student life. I felt a sense of belonging and the excitement of beginning a new chapter in my life alongside my new, incredible friends. It was the first time I was able to interact with so many of my peers and establish a sense of community as well. |
Why did you want to become a PSA?
I believe a Presidential Student Ambassador exemplifies all the values and qualities of a true mountaineer and mentor and I hoped to spread the spirit of WVU while bettering myself and serving others. I believe having the opportunity to become a leader on campus and represent this university is a privilege allowing me to share my experiences and background with the intent of helping others gauge new perspectives. Additionally, I wanted to meet diverse individuals and learn from those I may not have interacted with otherwise. |
What did you learn from the PSA experience? I learned the importance of knowing myself and using my strengths and weaknesses to be an effective leader, while giving others a voice in the process. I have learned there will always be more strength in numbers and that passion is the driving force of service and leadership. I have gained perspective on how individuals’ experiences can provide insight into leadership and character. I have become both a servant and leader through this program and believe there is much more I can learn about myself and those around me. |
