A lot of my family members went here when they were attending college, and it was just a welcoming environment I thought I could grow in. It also helped that WVU has a very good Physics program with a lot of different types of research, as well as a STEM education program to go along with it.
What is your favorite Mountaineer memory?
My favorite memory here on campus was just hanging out with my friends during Freshman year at UpAllNight playing games on the Green. We would be out there until 2 a.m. even during the winter, playing ultimate frisbee and Mario Party.
Why did you want to become a PSA?
I wanted to become a PSA due to just wanting to find a program to serve the community through. I really enjoy doing community service in the past, but this year I've had a harder time getting involved.
What did you learn from the PSA experience?
I learned a
lot of things I didn't expect from the PSA program. Going in, I was
expecting to learn how to talk and communicate in front of groups of
people, a skill essential to someone who wants a career in scientific
research. What I came out with was an understanding of leadership I
didn't know existed prior, including how to use my own personality and
traits to help myself and others around me succeed. This made me a lot
more confident in my own abilities as a mentor and presenter, and in
turn granted me many more opportunities to help others.
