I chose WVU because it offers the academic strength of a large university while also providing the support of a close-knit community that is usually found at smaller schools. I have the opportunity to further my career and have the support of both faculty and peers. As a native West Virginian, I also wanted to continue my education while staying connected to my Mountaineer values.
What is your favorite Mountaineer memory?
My favorite Mountaineer memory is when I presented a poster at the IMMB symposium my freshman year. I had the opportunity to display everything that I had learned that semester and share that moment with my peers. It reminded me why I chose to be an IMMB major in the first place.
Why did you want to become a PSA?
I wanted to become a PSA so that I could encourage prospective students to consider WVU. WVU has became a second home to me and provided me with so many educational, professional, and social opportunities. I want to encourage others to come to WVU so that they too can enjoy the same experiences that I do.
What did you learn from the PSA experience?
I learned the importance of using my voice to speak on issues that matter to me. Through Dr. Atkins’ lectures and feedback, I learned to effectively communicate in respect to both verbal and nonverbal aspects. I am able to use these skills to share my opinions, values, and passions.
