WHY DID YOU CHOOSE WVU?

I love the spirit of the campus and the size of the student body. The university is large enough to provide diverse opportunities and incredible resources yet small enough that you feel valued as a member of the community.

What is your favorite Mountaineer memory?

My favorite Mountaineer memory was giving a tour to my family after my first semester at WVU. Taking them around campus, sharing about my spots, and discussing what I love about the university reminded me of how far I had come and how much I had changed since I moved in the previous fall. I came to this campus as an entirely new student, but I had managed to make it my home and learn so much along the way.

Why did you want to become a PSA?

I wanted to further develop my communication skills as a leader, work with incredible people, and inspire others along their journey at WVU.

What did you learn from the PSA experience?

Through my unique opportunities this semester, I have discovered the comprehensive responsibilities of being a PSA and a Certified Student Leader (SEL). Hearing from WVU Career Services, I learned the importance of professional development, public-speaking, and community networking. From WVU’s Title IX, Safety -Zone, and Active Shooter training, I discovered new techniques to foster safe and inclusive environments. From an impressive lineup of WVU alumni, I gleaned invaluable lessons of perseverance and adaptability.

The diverse framework of this service-learning course equipped me with a well-rounded appreciation for leadership. I discovered that leadership is the very choice to let your actions speak louder than your words and the choice to invest, to serve, to show up, to fail, to learn and to humbly listen each and every day. On this journey, I have become a more confident leader, curious student, and empathetic individual.
