WHY DID I CHOOSE WVU?

Growing up in a small town in West Virginia has instilled Mountaineer values within me for my entire life and WVU has always been a major part of my identity since I was born. From a young age, the power of earning an education was always reinforced by my family and they consistently encouraged me to take advantage of the plethora of opportunities that the flagship institution in West Virginia had to offer. After finally touring WVU, I immediately knew that the university was meant to be my second home, especially considering the impact that the WVU community had already had upon my development. That is what truly sold me; the community. West Virginia looks to WVU as its way to solidify its identity as this institution creates an immense sense of pride for the state, and that is what largely drove my decision. At WVU, I have found my passion and I know I can grow to be an outstanding leader, innovator in my field, and above all else, a proud WVU community member myself by consistently serving as a Mountaineer.

What is your favorite Mountaineer memory?

My favorite Mountaineer memory has to have been the opportunity to represent the university in Erfurt, Germany during the Fall 2023 Model United Nations international conference. I never thought that I would even have the ability to travel abroad, but by being able to have that experience as a campus representative made it all the more special. The trip was one of the best experiences of my college career so far and I loved showing off the Flying WV on an entirely new, global level.

Why did you want to become a PSA?

I wanted to become a Presidential Student Ambassador because of my deep-seated love and appreciation for the university that has allowed me to grow into the person that I am extremely proud of today. After learning about the mission of the PSA program, I immediately knew that it would provide me with the resources and connections to give back to the university in a meaningful way, contribute to its future growth as a shining star in higher education, and advocate for the success of the student body. I hope by sharing my personal experiences and perspectives through this program, I can contribute to the success of WVU in the future and achieve my goal of positively representing the ideas and values of leadership that I continue to gain during my four years here. During my time as a PSA, it will be an immense privilege to uphold the values of the university and strive to be its advocate.

What did you learn from the PSA experience?

After being a part of the PSA program, I can say without hesitation that it has fostered an immense amount of growth within me not only as a student, but also as an individual. Through the program, I have expanded my knowledge about a range of resources that I can utilize to continue to further my professional development, matured into a more confident public orator, and discovered new ways to lead and advance the mission of the PSA program by working with the Morgantown and WVU student communities. It has been and will continue to be an immense privilege and honor to represent WVU through the Presidential Student Ambassador program. The PSA program has reminded me of the amazing student innovators and leaders that we have right here at WVU and being able to work alongside some of the brightest minds on campus has been an opportunity of a lifetime.
