I chose WVU because of the multitude of resources and a family legacy. Growing up in the Morgantown area with a parent who worked at the university developed my love for WVU. When my older sister attended WVU as well, I knew I was destined to be a Mountaineer. WVU is an extremely welcoming university with superior programs, activities, clubs, and support. As a West Virginia native, I wanted to continue my education in the state and give back to the community. I am grateful for the initiatives WVU has created to support the state. I chose WVU not only for the amazing academic programs, but also for the community.
What is your favorite Mountaineer memory?
My favorite Mountaineer memory is completing a service project for my introductory business course. I worked closely with my peers at WVU and the Morgantown community to support a local non-profit. As someone who prioritizes service and education, I found this experience very enriching.
Why did you want to become a PSA?
What did you learn from the PSA experience?
The PSA program taught me many valuable skills I will rely upon throughout the entirety of my life. Completing service hours put into perspective that status and salary are not the most important things in life. It showed me the importance of acting with empathy and compassion in any leadership role. I learned many helpful tips and techniques of public speaking from Dr. Atkins. From guest lectures and trainings, I grew my knowledge of resources available on-campus to valuable life advice from leaders in the workforce. This program helped me become confident in my public speaking and leadership abilities.
