WHY DID YOU CHOOSE WVU?

Growing up in West Virginia, I never anticipated attending WVU. I wanted to venture out of state to new opportunities. However, as soon as I stepped on campus for my first tour, I was treated with the highest level of respect. The level of care and interest of the faculty, president, and other students was unparalleled compared to other universities. The community spirit in addition to the high-quality educational opportunities offered here made this the perfect fit.

  • What is the BEST reason to attend WVU?

WVU provides endless opportunities for all students with various interests. Despite studying for an engineering degree, I am still able to continue dancing with the amazing dance program. There are just an endless number of organizations and everyone is very welcoming to new members. But most importantly, the sense of family and the mountaineer pride make the WVU experience unforgettable.

  • What is your favorite Mountaineer memory?

During my first home football game, I remember singing country roads with the entire stadium for the first time. Seeing an entire stadium dressed in blue and gold, all joined together to support our team was exciting and emotional. Another great experience was volunteering at Girl’s STEM Day hosted by the Society for Women Engineers. The excitement in these young girls’ eyes when they were introduced to engineering activities was unforgettable.

  • Why did you want to become a PSA?

Public speaking has never been my strongest skill, and I believe that college is a time to test our limits. Therefore, I decided to become a PSA in order to try something out of my comfort zone. Additionally, the prospect of working with a small group of individuals that had the same passion for the university in a constructive environment sounded too good to pass up. The service aspect was also very appealing since this has been something my family has valued throughout my life. All in all, I wanted to strengthen my skills to better represent the university I love.

  • What did you learn from the PSA experience?

Throughout the PSA experience, I have learned that this course did not just help drastically improve my public speaking skills, it did so much more. I have found a great group of people in this cohort, all of whom have taught me something and helped me grow as a WVU student. Also, I have been able to meet a variety of university officials that were very dedicated to connecting with the PSAs and providing leadership, communication, and service tips.
