I chose WVU because I knew I would find a home here. The opportunities that WVU provides for students are ones like no other. I knew I wanted to be involved as soon as I stepped on campus, and I knew I wanted my voice to be heard. Attending WVU has given me platforms to do both of those things and more – as well as experience things I could have only dreamed of. At WVU, I have found my people, my community, and my home.
- What is the BEST reason to attend WVU?
- What is your favorite Mountaineer memory?
I believe the best reason to attend WVU is because of the people you will meet and the opportunities that are available at West Virginia University. I have been able to be active on campus through various student organizations where I have met individuals who shared my passions and who have supported me along the way. WVU provides you with a home, by giving you the ability to meet people who will encourage you, support you, and stand with you as you grow.
- Why did you want to become a PSA?
My favorite Mountaineer memory was this past summer, when I had the opportunity to welcome incoming students and their families to campus through working with the WVU Honors College. We hosted gatherings on the nights before New Student Orientation, where students who traveled from far away were able to meet with current students and staff at WVU. Being able to welcome these individuals to WVU for the first time was something I will always be grateful for. Talking with them about why they chose WVU, what they are excited about, and addressing their questions was one of my greatest pleasures as a WVU student. I wanted to make those new Mountaineer families feel just as at home as I do.
- What did you learn from the PSA experience?
I love my University. I wanted to represent WVU and share my personal experience with others, and I knew being a PSA would give me the platform to do just that. I wanted to become a PSA to grow in my leadership and public speaking skills, as well as learn about the opportunities to serve my community to the best of my ability.
Through my PSA experience, I have learned that anyone can be an agent of change, as well as ways I can grow as a leader and a follower. Being a PSA has taught me how to better my speaking skills, whether it is speaking to groups of people or in my everyday life. I have seen how to be there for my WVU community – fighting for change and providing assistance to those who need it. My PSA experience has given me a space to highlight the reasons I love WVU, and has provided me with a platform to invite many others to join our WVU family.
