I chose WVU after being offered the Foundation Scholarship, a full ride scholarship that has also allowed me the opportunity to study abroad. Admittedly, WVU was not my first school choice. In high school, I felt too familiar with the university was determined to go somewhere new. However, I was missing much that WVU had to offer. Through my scholarship application process and touring of the university, I felt as if the WVU community truly wanted to help me find my place here. Every person I spoke to was enthusiastic about me becoming a Mountaineer and tried to make me feel welcome, whereas at other universities I was just another number. After being offered the Foundation Scholarship, I knew for certain that I would attend WVU and I have had no regrets. I love being a Mountaineer, have been offered countless opportunities to pursue my interests, and now face no financial burden from attending school.
What is your favorite Mountaineer memory?
I have so many great Mountaineer memories! One of my favorites is traveling with other WVU students and faculty on a study abroad trip to Germany and Czechia last spring. I especially loved walking through Prague at night and trying tridelník with my new friends. The trip was a brilliant first-hand learning experience and has encouraged me to study abroad again in the future.
Why did you want to become a PSA?
Since choosing WVU, I have been offered countless opportunities to get involved in causes that matters to me and explore my interests more thoroughly. I believe WVU has so much to offer that top prospective students might be overlooking. I wanted to become a PSA to share my positive experience since choosing WVU, advocate for the importance of choosing an affordable school, and convince top students that our university stands to others they might be looking at.
What did you learn from the PSA experience?
The PSA program encouraged me to take advantage of my leadership skills and work with others where my faults lie. I had an excellent experience developing my speaking skills and getting to know my cohort!
