I chose WVU because of its community and countless opportunities. As a first-generation college student, it was important to me to find a place that could support me through the college transition. The first time I stepped foot on campus I was welcomed and felt right at home. Thats when I knew that WVU would give me the chance to improve both academically and personally. Soon after I got accepted into the Honors College and made my decision to commit to WVU!
What is your favorite Mountaineer memory?
My favorite Mountaineer memory was welcome week. I loved participating in all the activities/events that WVU held while meeting new people that I am still friends with today. My friends and I still talk about our first adventures together and none of these memories or laughs would have been possible without welcome week.
Why did you want to become a PSA?
I wanted to become a PSA to obtain leadership experience and new strengths/skills. In the future I aim to be a lawyer, and I think this position will be very beneficial for this career choice. The PSA program offers great opportunities that will allow me to advocate for WVU and its values. I hope to have a positive impact on the WVU community because it has done so much for me.
What did you learn from the PSA experience?
The PSA Program contributed to my life immensely. Our activities, assignments, and discussions all challenged me to think critically and provided me with different perspectives. I learned the impact that engaging, collaborating, and listening can have in our world. In addition, I have learned how to communicate more effectively and comfortably which has made me feel more confident in my public speaking abilities.
