WHY DID YOU CHOOSE WVU?

Initially, I was drawn to WVU because of the forensics program. Although my aspirations changed and I decided to major in accounting instead, I still enjoyed the feel of the campus, how welcoming the students and staff were, and the program opportunities. Coming in with 33 AP and dual-enrollment credits, I'm especially grateful for the help I've received from the advising department in regards to my 3+1. I'm also grateful for the scholarships I've been awarded, which have made WVU affordable for me despite being an out-of-state student.

What is your favorite Mountaineer memory?

My favorite memory is the Pitt game. Football wasn't particularly big at my high school and I had never been interested in it before, not until that legendary victory. I feel like that game was a turning point for me where I was no longer homesick and first began to think of myself as a Mountaineer. Seeing the crowd dressed in gold and blue in a packed stadium and cheering alongside them filled me with a sense of belonging that's hard to replicate.

Why did you want to become a PSA?

I chose to apply because I wanted others to find their place at WVU. I admit there are times I still feel like I'm trying to find my place and that's okay. Being away from home and navigating a new state and new expectations is challenging and I want others to know that there are so many resources here to find that sense of belonging. My peer mentors and professors have given great advice academically, and socially, clubs and our Mountaineer Meetup groups have allowed me to meet new people and have new experiences that I wouldn't have had otherwise.
